Congratulations to the Pacific High School MCJROTC Marksmanship Team for winning the Missouri State X-Count Tournament AND the Missouri State Marine Corps JROTC Marksmanship title. The team now advances to the X-Count National Championship in Cleveland, Ohio, later this month. They will then travel the following week to Salt Lake City, Utah, to compete against the top Marine Corps teams from around the world.
The team currently has a national ranking of 8th in the Marine Corps and 7th in X-Count. X-Count is a nationally recognized marksmanship organization that supports youth with opportunities to compete at the national level while doing so on some of the best ranges in the world. Only the top 15 teams in the nation received an invite to compete in Ohio later this month.
In these competitions, cadets shoot onto targets at ten meters that are essentially about the size of a quarter. However, the bulls-eye is smaller than pencil lead! Skilled athletes in this field not only need to shoot well (the “easy” part), but they must also focus on exercise, diet, flexibility, confidence, concentration, a great deal of individual discipline, and proper rest - all while keeping their grades up. Well done to Cadets Malissa Dailey, Annabelle Schneider, Ella Stock, and Carter Casey. Good luck at Nationals! #MVNation
