rootED Scholarship Winners

A Remarkable Achievement -

Meramec Valley R-III is thrilled to share some outstanding news and celebrate the incredible impact of the rootEd Senior Advisor program at Pacific High School.  Two of our 2024 graduates, Zoe Johnson and Xavian Cox, have been awarded the prestigious rootEd Undergraduate Scholarship. Out of 135 participating districts, only 32 of these scholarships were distributed, and PHS students secured two of them! This is a testament to the hard work of our students and the exceptional support they have received from our rootEd Senior Advisor, Nicole Ingersoll.

rootEd’s Transformative Role -

The rootEd program, dedicated to placing college and career advisors in rural high schools, has been a game-changer for PHS students. Our rootEd Senior Advisor works tirelessly with students to help them navigate their future paths, whether that be through college, career training, or military service. This guidance and support are pivotal in shaping the aspirations and success of our students.

Student Testimonial -

Recipient Zoe Johnson shared her heartfelt appreciation:

"I received a $12,000 annual award and it has completely changed everything for me. I also saw a familiar face, Xavian Cox, at the award ceremony, and we talked about how thankful we were to have such a great advisor who steered us in the right direction. You were such a godsend our senior year and for so many other kids too! I hope you have a great year this upcoming school year, and thank you again, from the bottom of my heart."

Zoe’s words are a powerful reminder of the significant difference educators make in students' lives. Their unwavering support helps students achieve dreams and reach new heights.

Looking Ahead -

As we move forward into the new school year, we remain grateful for the rootEd program and the invaluable contributions of Senior Advisor Ingersoll. The work done through this program continues to inspire and empower our students, and we look forward to celebrating more success stories and milestones in the coming months. On Sep. 11, PHS will host its annual

College & Career Fair with 40+ colleges, trade & technical schools, and military branches in attendance. If your institution would like to join, please contact ningersoll@mvr3.k12.mo.us.
